Stay Strong - Kia Kaha - red and silver motivational themed design on a man's black T-Shirt
This man's T-shirt features a front panel with a swirling abstract spiral in reds, black, white and silvery greys. The underling abstract design was inspired by the unfurling Silver Fern leaf (the symbol of which, in NZ, is often referred to as a Koru.)
The Maori of New Zealand associate the Koru with new life, growth, strength and Peace. Kia Kaha is also a Maori term which has two common meanings. One is to Stay Strong. The other is as a term of comfort or solace (similar to "My thoughts are with you".)
Following the Christchurch earthquakes, and the Christchurch mosque massacre; the motivational message Kia Kaha (Stay Strong) has become a more widely used grassroots term.
